Democrats are praising presidential contender Kamala Harris today (July 31) for appearing to throw huge shade at former opponent Donald Trump.
In recent weeks, the US President has faced criticism for his role in the cancelation of Stephen Colbert’s Late Show earlier this month, in addition to a slew of other embarrassing gaffes, contentious remarks, and damaging denials.
On July 17, a group of Paramount and CBS Entertainment executives signed a statement confirming the show’s fate, annoucing the decision was based on ‘finances’.
Suspicions were suddenly raised, however, with the announcement having been made just days after Colbert accused Paramount issuing Trump with a ‘big fat bribe’ in the form of a $16 million (£12m) settlement earlier this year.
The payment is reported to have been paid in response to the Republican previously accusing CBS (which is part of Paramount) producers of airing an edited video of a 2024 electoral debate with Kamala Harris that favored the Democrat.
Responding to the cancellation, Trump stated that he ‘totally liked’ Colbert’s firing and threatened Jimmy Kimmel as the ‘next’.
In reaction, a lot of longtime talk show viewers spoke out, both in support of the presenter and condemning TV executives. Kimmel himself made a stunning revelation online.
And apparently, joining those who’ve already stood up for Colbert this week, is Harris herself.
According to Deadline, the 60-year-old will come back to the show for tonight’s episode (31 Jul)y in her first televised interview since she lost out to Trump, 79, in last year’s presidential race.
With this in mind, fans are expecting that Kamala will not only share about Colbert’s controversial sacking, but against Trump’s term in the White House so far.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one USER commented: “This should be interesting, what will she say!?”
Another added: “Announcing her act 2 of ending Trump tour in 2028.”
“Well, that’s going to be a lively conversation tonight,” a third wrote.
Several other Kamala fans made expectation about the chaos set to unfold on the live television hit in the next few hours.
“She will be clocking Trump,” one guessed.
“When she drags Trump,” another agreed.
Another expected that Kamala’s appearance is purposed ‘to declare she’s running for president of the United States 2028 to end that joke of a president once and for all’.
